Mediaset buys Radio Subasio for 25 million

Radio Subasio, a broadcaster from Central Italy, becomes part of the Mediaset radio hub, which already includes R101, Radio 105 and Virgin as well as having a partnership with Radio Monte Carlo. The transfer of Radio Subasio Srl and Radio Aut srl, both owned by the Settimi family, to Radio Mediaset spa for a consideration of 25 million euro was signed in recent days, according to what Radiocor Plus learned. The sellers were Rita and Marco Settimi, sons of the founder who in the 70s launched the broadcaster based in Assisi. Radio Subasio, Radio Subasio+ and Radio Suby belong to the two companies being sold.

The contract also envisages that Mediaset will pay the sellers a further 5 million in total in the event that the Radio Mediaset broadcasters - and in particular R101, Radio105 and Subasio - achieve specific audience targets in the regions of Lazio, Campania, Umbria, Tuscany and Marche. In particular, the first additional 3 million will have to be paid by Radio Mediaset if in 2018 the listeners of the average quarter of an hour reach at least 300 thousand. A further 2 million will be paid if in 2020 this audience level reaches at least 325 thousand, again in the average quarter of an hour.

The agreement for the purchase of the Assisi broadcaster was announced by the managing director of Mediaset, Pier Silvio Berlusconi, on the occasion of the presentation of the television schedules for next season. Radio Subasio is already in some way part of the Mediaset "pole" given that it is one of the eight broadcasters for which Mediamond (the Mediaset-Mondadori jv) is the advertising sales concessionaire.
