Mc Donald's: a thousand hires in Italy in 2018

Mc Donald's plans to hire a thousand people in Italy by the end of 2018. This was announced by Mario Federico, managing director of the group's Italian division, in an interview with the newspaper La Stampa.

The manager specified that the fast food chain will provide 100 million euros to open 20 to 25 new restaurants and renovate 140 existing ones.

The plan is to change course from the usual standardization and focus on "a different type of experience - Federico explains to the Turin newspaper - We want to allow the choice of ingredients, so that you can eat personalized sandwiches".

Another innovation will be to mount touch screens on the tables, which will allow customers to read the news while they eat.

As far as food quality is concerned, Mc Donald's Italia – continues the CEO – will invest 200 million euros in raw materials this year, guaranteeing 80% of products of Italian origin.

In terms of new trends, the group aims to respond to companies such as Foodora and JustEat by enhancing home deliveries. Today the service is offered by 88 restaurants in nine cities, but by the end of the year it should be extended to 200 restaurants.

In 2017 Mc Donald's Italia saw revenues grow by 10,63%, to approximately 1,2 billion euros, with approximately 9% more customer visits. “And this year too we started in the same way, with double figures – Federico confirms to the press – which is all the more significant if we consider that the rest of the market grew by an average of 1,5%”.

Worldwide, Mc Donald's has announced its commitment to ensure that within four years, half of the happy meals sold contain no more than 600 calories, of which a maximum of 10% from saturated fat. Italy is a step forward on this front, having been one of the first countries to introduce grilled chicken.
