MAXXI and Contemporary Design: on display the first acquisitions that tell the story of the current design scene

Born a Roma at Museum of XNUMXst Century Arts (MAXXI) the Collection of Contemporary design of the MAXXI on display the first acquisitions tell the current design scene: industrial, collectible, digital, new materials, anonymous.

The twelve designated to the Collection between studios and individual designers

Anonymous artisan architects; Bloc Studios; Ghostform; Stef Fusani; Kstas Lambridis; Maximilian Marchesani; Jasper Morrison; Object of Common Iterest (ooCI); Older Studio; Rehub; Martina Taranto; Studio Plastique; Snohetta and Fornace Brioni

This is a collection in five categories defined with the contribution of Joseph Grima, architect, curator, founder of the Space Caviar studio and creative director of the Design Academy of Eindhoven.

Industrial design, for projects with a refined aesthetic quality for mass production; Collectible Design, where the artist collaborates with the company right from the sketch in order to create a unique example or a limited series, Anonymous Design, where the added value is the functional one; the New materials, projects
capable of integrating innovation and sustainability into design; Digital design, aimed at new media and their constant evolution.

If it is true that Italy has played a pioneering role in the field of industrial design, producing furniture, lamps and objects present in museums and homes all over the world, it is now important to investigate its evolution and question its future developments.
