For the first time the prime minister of the right-centre government, Giorgia Melons, accompanied the President of the Republic, Sergio, to the Altare della Patria in Rome Mattarella, who was the real protagonist of the day. His speech in Cuneo, where the Head of State went in the afternoon pronouncing a speech for April 25, will be remembered for his "Now and always Resistance".
MATTARELLA: "THE CONSTITUTION IS THE DAUGHTER OF THE ANTI-FASCIST FIGHT AND OF APRIL 25"
“The Resistance was above all a moral revolt of patriots against fascism for national redemption” said Mattarella who added: “The Constitution it is the daughter of the anti-fascist struggle and the fruit of April 25, which is the feast of national identity”. The President of the Republic closed, to applause, quoting the great anti-fascist jurist Piero Calamandrei: "Now and always resistance".
MELONI DOES NOT PRONOUNCE THE WORD ANTI-FASCISM
In a letter to Corriere della Sera, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, in turn, affirmed "the incompatibility of the right in Parliament with any nostalgia for fascism" and that democracy "is everyone's heritage". But the premier did not accept, not even on April 25, the appeal of the former AN leader, Gianfranco Fini, who had invited her to overcome any reluctance and to marry theAnti-Fascism. But Meloni dribbled the invitation.
