Mattarella from Putin: "United against terror"

“There is always a need for greater collaboration and coordination against terrorism. Together we can fight it more effectively". This was stated by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella when he met Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin. “Despite the difficulties of the period – he added – we managed to maintain a good level of cooperation: now we have to fully restore the conditions to make this cooperation bear fruit".

Italy has "for some time been a reliable partner" of Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in turn to the Italian Head of State. Putin recalled that in recent years “trade has simply collapsed, it has decreased by 2,5 times. At the same time – he added – there are positive trends, in the first period of this year trade grew by more than 30%”. Furthermore, he noted "the close ties in the field of culture and in the monetary sphere". "We hope - he underlined, with reference to relations between Russia and Italy - that all the difficulties and misunderstandings will be overcome and we will obtain a positive collaboration".
