It is not the first time that the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, takes the field for urge Italians to get vaccinated against Covid, the only real remedy to defeat the pandemic, but this time he did it even more clearly than usual and curtly lashing out at the No Vaxes and those who wink at them. “Don't invoke freedom to escape the vaccine“, claimed the Head of State at the inauguration of the academic year at the University of Pavia, overturning the claims of the No Vax. “That invocation – added Mattarella – is equivalent to the license of put the health of others at risk and in some cases to put endanger the life of others“. Except for those who cannot get vaccinated for health reasons, those who do not get vaccinated have no justification and in reality "it forces everyone else to limit their freedom“. Here because "getting immunized is a civic and moral duty".
The strong message of the President supports the Government intentions to extend the Green Pass and to evaluate the conditions for introducing the obligation to have a vaccine as the only solution to definitively defeat the pandemic that has been raging for over a year and which threatens to worsen with the variants. But it's also tough condemnation of the violence of the No Vax of recent days and the intolerable threats directed against scientists and journalists. "Threats of violence and violence itself must be sanctioned with due rigor to protect those who have adopted responsible behaviour", not underestimating that the very responsibility of those who supported the fight against the pandemic with vaccinations "deserves constant appreciation: it has allowed resumption of universities in the presence, schools reopen, the economy has restarted ".
In short, getting vaccinated is the main way to get back to life and it's exactly the opposite of what the No Vax and their supporters think. It is time to take note of this and act accordingly, the Head of State sends to say, encouraging Italians of good will to take the last stage without delay to defeat the scourge of the pandemic, which has caused so many deaths and which, this , has greatly reduced the freedoms of Italians who dream of returning to normal life as soon as possible.
