This year there will be 16, against 6300 last year. More and more Maseratis are roaring on the roads around the world. If the forecasts of the Italian brand are correct, the record of 9000 cars sold in 2008 will be broken – and by a lot. The goal is ambitious: to sell 50 cars in one year by 2015.
Selling more Maseratis is a key ingredient in Fiat's plan to return to profitability in 2016 in Europe, where it saw €700m vanish last year. The sales growth comes after the launch of the €110 Quattroporte sedan and the new Ghibli model which starts at €66.
"The product is the solution - said the CEO Harald Wester - If you offer a credible alternative in a segment that has appeal, you can attract customers".
Wester is also focusing on Maserati's next SUV, the Levante, which should sell around 20-25 thousand units a year when it is launched in 2015.
The largest market for the new Quattroporte will be China, with the average customer being 37 years old on average and 40% of cases female.
“If Europe doesn't recover – concluded Wester – it won't make sense to invest too much in stores in the Old Continent”. In short, the way to the success of luxury – also in this case – is in the East.
