Masks: here's where they will be mandatory and where not until June 15th. New rules also for the Green Pass

Approved an amendment to the reopening decree with the new rules on masks and green passes. Here's everything you need to know

Masks: here's where they will be mandatory and where not until June 15th. New rules also for the Green Pass

The mask will continue to be mandatory until June 15, but only in some places. This is foreseen by the reopening decree approved in the Social Affairs Committee in the Chamber. The provision will be included in a order of the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, which will serve as a "bridge" for the time necessary for his conversion.

Masks: where they will be mandatory until June 15th

Based on the provisions of the amendment, we will have to wear a mask ffp2:

  • on all means of local and long-distance public transport (trains, planes, subways, trams, buses, etc.);
  • during shows and indoor sporting events;
  • in cinemas, theatres, concert halls and sports halls;
  • health, social-health and social-welfare facilities, including hospitality and long-term care facilities, assisted health residences (RSA), hospices, rehabilitation facilities, residential facilities for the elderly, including those who are not self-sufficient, and residential facilities.

The use of the mask will remain also mandatory in schools, for students aged 6 and over.

Masks: where we will no longer have to wear them

On the other hand, it will no longer be mandatory to wear a mask in:

  • shops,
  • supermarkets;
  • bars and restaurants;
  • stadiums and outdoor shows;
  • discos.

Masks at work: yes or no? Depends

"In all other workplaces", excluding those in the health sector and hospitals, "without distinction between public and private, the mask will be only strongly recommended“, declared the Undersecretary of State for Health Andrea Costa (Noi Con l'Italia), on the sidelines of the work of the Twelfth Commission, in which he participated on behalf of the Government.

But that doesn't mean you shouldn't wear them. In the offices, in fact, i will remain in force protocols shared with Confindustria and trade unions. Therefore, if the company protocols provide for it, workers will have to continue to wear the mask, surgical or Ffp2. A meeting on updating safety protocols in the workplace has been set for May 4th.

What will happen to the green pass?

The green pass will continue to be necessary for travel abroad, but not for those in Italy. From May 1st the rules are gone which established the obligation to possess the enhanced green certificate to attend indoor gyms and swimming pools, participate in parties and ceremonies, conferences and congresses, enter discos and gambling halls, go to the cinema and theatre. Also gone is the obligation to have a basic green pass to access:

  • workplace,
  • indoor bars and restaurants,
  • intra-regional planes, trains, ferries and coaches,
  • public tenders,
  • stadiums, theater performances and open-air concerts..

However, the green pass will still be required until 31 December for the visits to hospital and RSA.
