Marò, India gives the go-ahead for Girone's return

“We reaffirm our friendship for India, its people, its Government. And let's welcome back to marò Girone who will be with us on 2 June": with these words, on his Facebook profile, Prime Minister Matteo Renzi greeted the decision of the Indian Supreme Court, which agreed to immediately enforce the Court's order international arbitration in The Hague to bring the Navy rifleman back to Italy Salvatore Girone throughout the arbitration proceedings.

The Foreign Minister did the same thing on Twitter, Paolo Gentiloni: “Girone returns to Italy. Awarded government engagement with Parliament support. Always at work to affirm the reasons of our two riflemen ”.

Girone will therefore be able to return to his homeland in the next few days and will be accompanied by General Carmine Masiello, military advisor of Palazzo Chigi and by the Italian ambassador in India, Lorenzo Angeloni. The confirmation of the rapid times comes from the lawyer Diljeet Titus, who leads the Indian legal team, from the exit of the hearing of the Supreme Court in New Delhi. "Already today we will file a new undertaking with the Court (written guarantee signed by the ambassador on behalf of the Italian government) – he explained – and then tomorrow we will start the procedures for the repatriation".
