Sea and plastic, Marevivo mobilizes old and new partners

Marevivo is once again on the march towards new goals. And for an immersion in perfumes, music and stories about the Blue Planet, he called the collection at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome (Sala Petrassi) – on March 9 from 18 to 20 – three characters who have dedicated their lives to the sea. Just as the international campaign #stopsingleuseplastic (stop single-use plastic) is underway Ferdinand Boer will illustrate the vital and life-giving function of the sea while the art historian Claudio Strinati and Alberto Luca Recchi, writer and underwater photographer, will tell the story of their two passions, for art and the sea. The two experts will transform their dialogue into a tale of marine works and creatures, both fragile and in need of protection that only their knowledge can save. These are the topics that will be discussed during the meeting "MadreMare Truth, Emotions and Legends on the Sea".

The president of the non-profit association, Rosalba Giugni, never tires of repeating that “98% of the space inhabited by life is the Sea. All beings on the planet come from the Sea. Balance and stability come from the Sea. The meeting between peoples and cultures is inspired by the sea.”

The meeting is only for the members of Marevivo and those who are not can take the opportunity to become one, thus financing the campaigns of the historical association in defense of the sea. The funds will be used to support the foundation's various campaigns. Tickets can be purchased online (by credit card, bank transfer and postal order) and vary from 20 to 100 euros depending on the membership card to which they entitle (member, ordinary, supporter).

Marevivo has recently organized other campaigns including:

  • #Stopsingleuseplastic: to make the new generations aware of the problem of plastic pollution
  • Ban on microplastics and cotton swabs: the 2018 Budget law established a stop from 2019 to plastic cotton swabs and from 2020 to microplastics in cosmetics and rinse-off personal hygiene products. A result strongly pushed by Marevivo thanks also to the support of Ermete Realacci (then president of the Chamber's Environment Commission) and the then Minister for the Environment Gianluca Galletti.
  • Let's save plastic at the sea: 80% of the plastic that pollutes the sea comes from the hinterland, its slow deterioration process transforms it into millions of invisible microplastics that are ingested by fish and consequently, also by us
