Maneuver, Monti: measures for growth soon, Passera at work

Maneuver, Monti: measures for growth soon, Passera at work

"There will be new measures for growth, the minister It will pass is actively working for measures in this direction”. Thus spoke the Prime Minister, Mario Monti, after this morning's debate in the Chamber on maneuver. The Government has raised the question of trust in the decree and tomorrow morning the Montecitorio assembly will be called to vote.

Monti, however, wanted to underline that the new package “already contains a series of measures for growth. We have tried to hit the incentives to produce as little as possible”. Without this manoeuvre, "in our opinion there would have been discontinuities in the state's ability to meet its commitments, in the country's ability to respect contracts and remain within a framework of stability".

As for the individual measures, the front of the measures remains incandescent liberalizations: "The resistances encountered, and for me they are nothing new in Italy and in Europe - explained the Premier again -, are overcome not at the first attempt, but with determination and tenacity". The interventions currently contained in the text in this sense represent “an important contribution to undoing the knots that create rents and privileges. But that won't be the end of the process."

However, the agenda of the Executive also includes other important appointments: "The Minister for Welfare, Elsa Fornero – the Professor continued – he is already conceptually putting to work the construction site of work and social safety nets".

Finally, in addition to the parliamentary calendar, Monti was busy today at Palazzo Chigi, where he signed the "Action plan for the South” with the representatives of Basilicata, Campania, Calabria, Puglia, Sardinia, Sicily and the ministers Fabrizio Barca, Elsa Fornero, Corrado Passera and Francesco Profumo. The agreement “implements the commitments undertaken with Europe: it does not attribute new funds to the South, but does more, begins to make better use of the funds already allocated. Here we are dealing with 3,1 billion of the 26 still to be spent by 2015”.

The effectiveness of the plan "will be a determining factor for the future choices" of the EU with respect to the allocation of resources. "Making good use of the structural funds is not only a priority, but also the condition to ensure that in the future the Community cohesion policy remains significant for European investments".
