Maneuver in the Senate, but the clash continues

More than one hundred amendments have been presented – The IDV has already announced obstructionism – Bersani: “Willing to limit the amendments, but they've already rejected them all” – Sacconi: “Give up article 8? It's not really talked about. The ECB wants it” – At 15 pm the conference of group leaders – From 30 pm onwards the discussion in the Chamber.

Maneuver in the Senate, but the clash continues

Maneuver in the Chamber and it is a confrontation between the majority and the opposition. Italia dei Valori has already announced that it will obstruct a "destructive" manoeuvre, which we will oppose with all our strength because it will also curb workers' rights, as Antonio Di Pietro explains. As for the Democratic Party, he said he was available for rapid approval, but under specific conditions.

Bersani, who this morning participated in the strike called by the CGIL, he summarizes: “Today we are going to the Senate Chamber saying that we are ready to limit the amendments: however it is useless to hurry if we do not do it right. After that the majority will assume its responsibilities. We have some ideas. More savings in the public administration, taxes on large real estate assets and serious liberalisations. Too bad that all our amendments were rejected in two minutes". The secretary of the Democrats also relaunches the proposal for a one-off tax on shielded capital: "Measures like this can strengthen the manoeuvre".

Bersani finally points the finger against Article 8 on bargaining, asking that it be removed from the maneuver: "It has nothing to do with growth - underlines the opposition leader - and so far it has only divided the world of work and complicated life for a country that is already in serious difficulty" . The Minister of Labour, Maurizio Sacconi, replied to the secretary of the Democratic Party by return of post: “It's not really talked about.

To Bersani, who even demands the renunciation of article 8, we reply that it is not being talked about in the name, on the one hand, of his correspondence to one of the more explicit requests of the ECB and, on the other, of a consensus which has seen the convergence majority and the Third Pole as well as its acceptance by the majority of social actors".

It is in this climate that the debate in the Senate opens at 16,30 pm. The group leaders' conference is scheduled for 15,30 pm, which should reformulate the times for the approval of the manoeuvre. A conclusion had even been hypothesized by tomorrow, but at this point it is a matter of seeing how the debate will unfold. The amendments presented exceed a hundred and are not only from the opposition.

"Let's see how the Government will behave, if it wants to give a signal to the country by accepting some proposals - says the Pd group leader in the Budget Committee, Vidmer Mercatali - or if instead it decides to go head-on and put the trust". Hypothesis, the latter, which continues to hover, despite the official denials by the majority and the Government. The Democratic Party has resubmitted about eighty amendments to the Chamber.

Antonio Lirosi, consumer and trade manager of the Democratic Party, notes how all the group's amendments presented in the commission on medicines, fuels, professions, banks, insurance and energy have all been rejected "and the approved changes have further weakened the generic rules on liberalization present in the manoeuvre".
