Maneuver, the no of the players rages Calderoli

The players do not want to pay the solidarity tax envisaged in the encore maneuver out of their own pockets and are asking the club to do so. The Minister for Simplification cannot contain himself and threatens to double the rate.

Maneuver, the no of the players rages Calderoli

"Footballers throw tantrums: I don't know if the solidarity contribution is right or not, but if there is anyone who should pay it, it is them, who represent the caste of the spoiled". This was stated by the Minister of Regulatory Simplification, Roberto Calderoli, who added: "Should they continue to threaten strikes or retaliation, I will propose that, like politicians, the solidarity contribution rate should be doubled for footballers too".

The players have hypothesized a strike apparently linked to the request by the football clubs that they themselves pay the eventual solidarity contribution foreseen by the maneuver-bis – which provides for a contribution of 5% for those who earn more than 90 euros gross per year and 10% for those who earn more than 150 gross per year.

Already last year Calderoli had proposed a reduction in players' salaries with the introduction of a salary cap and the waiver of bonuses in case of victory in South Africa.
