"Maneuver, so you risk crashing"

Ernesto Auci speaks, interviewed by Radio Radicale VIDEO – And he explains what is the real stake in the negotiations between Italy and the European Union on the budget law. "A wrong maneuver risks bringing new taxes and weakening the country economically". And on the eco-tax no to propaganda choices, yes to gradual changes

"Maneuver, so you risk crashing"

The negotiation with Europe it's not a negotiation between good guys and bad guys, where the former are us Italians and the latter are the representatives of the European Union. The crux of the negotiations concerns the fact that the EU fears, with good reason, that the current budget law not only will not bring growth but will expose our country to the risk of a financial crisis as a result of which we could all become poorer. This is the message that Ernesto Auci, former director of Il Sole 24 Ore and president of the FIRSTonline publishing company, addresses to the public of Radio Radicale listeners in an interview which we report in full below.

Regarding the threatened (and then returned) resignation of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte in the moment of maximum tension with the deputy prime ministers Matteo Salvini and Luigi Di Maio, "I believe - added Auci - that Conte convinced himself with common sense, speaking with the president Sergio Mattarella and with Jean Claude Juncker himself who this is not about penalizing Italian citizensi. It is the maneuver that is wrong and we cannot break with the EU, this would only bring disadvantages to the Italian economy, forcing us to impose new and heavy taxes”.

The interview also addresses the issue of reverse of Lega and M5S which "demonstrates how unrealizable the promises of the electoral campaign were in reality". Finally, on the eco-tax, Auci disputes the propaganda reasons for the measure proposed in the Budget Law. “The transition to less polluting cars must be done but it must be gradual” and also provide funding for research and to support production changes in factories.
