Maneuver, Calderoli: "Cut the pensions of those who have never worked"

The Minister of Simplifications from the meeting in Rimini lashes out against "those who take survivor's checks that are too high" or "accompaniments that are given without income-related limits" - This could be a way to get to the thaw between Pdl and Lega - Also under study a mysterious “wealth tax on tax evaders”.

Maneuver, Calderoli: "Cut the pensions of those who have never worked"

There is a glimmer of light on the issue of pensions, the main battlefield between the PDL and the Lega in recent weeks. Roberto Calderoli took the first step to overcome the stalemate in the majority, who this morning sought a compromise solution without renouncing the typical tones of the Carroccio. “We need to take an interest in the pensions of those who have never worked – said the Minister of Simplifications -, perhaps it is appropriate to review them”.

So no step backwards on retirement benefits and the retirement age of women in the private sector. In that respect, “the text contained in decree 138 has already been the subject of a long negotiation, with an agreement reached between President Berlusconi and Minister Bossi. It wasn't the initial text, it was the landing point. And we think it should stay that way."

To recalibrate the weights of the 45,5 billion August maneuver, according to Calderoli, there are other taxpayers on whom it would be necessary to focus the sights: "For example, those who have excessively high survivor's pensions or take accompaniments that today are given without distinction to all without income limits.

The first to appreciate the words of the Northern League minister was Gaetano Quagliariello. On the sidelines of the work of the Budget Commission in the Senate, where the encore maneuver arrived two days ago, the deputy leader of the PDL at Palazzo Madama said he noticed “a certain openness in Calderoli's words. Not really an opening, a glimmer. And we will work on this”.

But the surprises arriving from the Minister of Simplifications did not end there. Speaking at the Communion and Liberation meeting in Rimini, Calderoli also announced the latest Northern League idea: “We invented the tax on tax evasion – he said – and this afternoon we will finish writing it. It is a wealth tax against tax evaders”. At the moment the new levy is still rather mysterious. The minister only explained that "it does not affect those who have already paid taxes, because it can be deducted". This would be a solution to overcome the much hated solidarity contribution, which is "correct in general terms, but the fact remains that it is not right to charge taxes to those who have always paid them".
