Maneuver, the flash hearings in Parliament are underway

The hearings on the maneuver just launched by the Government are starting today in the House and Senate Budget Committees. It begins at 12 with representatives of Italian Business Network, then in the afternoon, at 15 pm, it will be the turn of Cgil, Cisl, Uil and Ugl. At 17 the hearing of the representatives of the Istat and at 18 and 30 those of Confindustria. After a break for the Immaculate Conception, the hearings will resume on Friday morning at 9 with the Bank of Italy, which will be followed at 11 by Court of Auditors.

Pending the hearings, and therefore precisely on 8 December, there will be the report (but the speaker has not yet been decided) and the general discussion, given that the amendments must be presented by Friday morning. The hypothesis of recourse to trust by the government hovers over the provision to prevent a discussion on the contents of the maneuver which could lead to a lengthening of the approval times. Meanwhile, the League prepare the amendments to the maneuver and warm up the engines for the Montecitorio hall. But the Carroccio does not want to offer support to Monti to justify the use of a vote of confidence.

For this reason, a few modification proposals are being worked on. In reality, the Carroccio is preparing to give battle in the commission. There is no ceiling on amendments in that forum and recourse to obstructionism is not excluded. But for the House, the modification proposals should not be more than 15. In particular, the League for the discussion in the Assembly is aiming for a lean package of "manifesto-amendments" to keep the banner of the Carroccio's historic positions high.

On the part of the Democratic Party, the secretary Pier Luigi Bersani he is keen to point out that “we will not be the ones to ask for trust. The problem is to change the maneuver on some points. With what procedure to do it, whether by parliamentary initiative or by government initiative, I don't care, the important thing is to change some points”.

Di Pietro instead he is not willing to make discounts: “It's one thing to make ends meet, it's another to take money from the poor bastards. We want to protect the weakest and we want more social equity. This is not a question of being beautiful or ugly, but of demonstrating that the accounts can be made ends meet without always paying the usual ones". And he insists on the need to go to the polls: “We hope for elections in April, but after the referendum to change the electoral law. There is an emergency but it's not like we have to keep Monti forever, otherwise they would have had to appoint him president for life"
