Maneuver in the Senate: rain of amendments on courts, balances and pensions

The most serious problem is to replace the law that has just been removed on social security - The rapporteur Azzollini: "We are working" - The issue of balances is also in the foreground - Mercatali (Pd): "In a month the Government will be forced to present another maneuver ” – The opposition is convinced that in the end the majority will put their trust in the measure.

Maneuver in the Senate: rain of amendments on courts, balances and pensions

It is in a climate of uncertainty that the Budget Commission is examining the maneuver in the Senate. While the Government's amendments are awaited ("a part will arrive tonight", says the undersecretary for the Economy Antonio Gentile) the conference of group leaders has been postponed to tomorrow, which was supposed to take stock and confirm the stages of the discussion and the arrival in the courtroom of the provision. All signs that speak volumes about the climate surrounding the manoeuvre. The Budget commission examined today some amendments of the opposition: the revision of the judicial offices, the revision of the expenditure and the insertion of the clause of the balanced budget in the accounting law.

Courts – ”The revision of the judicial offices – underlined the president of the commission Antonio Azzollini – can give enormous savings that will strengthen the manoeuvre”. The Undersecretary for the Economy, Antonio Gentile, announced: "The proposal on the courts will be made by the government." As for the government amendments, they are expected in the evening. At least in part, because within the executive and the majority the discussion and filings are still ongoing.

Pensions – The social security issue is highlighted. What as an alternative to measure on graduation redemptions and military service what jumped? Azzollini replies: ”We are working and we will continue to do so. We will address issues as they arise."

Sale – And then there is the issue of roofing. For the Pd group leader in the commission, Vidmer Mercatali, however, the Government “in a month's time will be forced to present another maneuver, because this one lacks measures for growth. All observers and international bodies say that Italy is growing slowly. And therefore they will have to introduce measures to raise the GDP, perhaps by half a point or a point.”

Opposition – In any case, the representative of the Democratic Party says he is convinced that the government will in any case resort to trust: “if trust were placed on a text that also includes the suggestions of the opposition, it would in any case be the result of a discussion. If this did not happen instead, it would be a debasement of Parliament. We have presented a countermaneuver. Even if the government accepted only a part of it, that would already be a good thing. But what is to be expected from this? Other than Titanic, it's leaking everywhere…”
