Manchester United, record accounts. But without the Champions League…

The start of the season on the pitch, despite a huge market, has so far been below expectations, but on the other hand Manchester United, the football club that sells the most shirts in the world, listed on Wall Street and which has recently signed a contract record with Adidas (valid from next season) for the record sum of almost 1 billion euros in 10 years (to add to that with Chevrolet which will pay almost 200 million in 8 years), can definitely console itself on the financial front.

In fact, the Red Devils have just estimated their 2014 turnover at 539,6 million euros, lower only than that of Real Madrid but without the sale of any player from the squad, unlike the merengues who have bought but also made a lot of money with the redundancies. For Van Gaal's club, this means a +19% increase compared to 2013. As always, explains the Guardian, the boom comes from merchandising: last year those of the most successful Manchester team were still the best-selling uniforms in the world .

Of the 5 million late United products sold last season, at least 2 million were in fact footballers' shirts, for a revenue of around 235 million euros. However, the British club would in any case do well to relaunch itself as soon as possible even inside the pitch: failure to participate in the current edition of the Champions League will in fact cost a downward forecast for the beginning of next year, for an expected figure below the 500 million, also thanks to the expensive purchases (Di Maria alone cost 75 million) and the super severance payment of almost 7 million euros paid to the former coach David Moyes and his staff.
