Manchester City, not just petrodollars: new members from China

China is increasingly attracted to the world of football. Even in Beijing they have realized that investments in balloons can be very profitable, as demonstrated by the latest agreement signed between the Chinese consortium China Media Capital (CMC) and the City Football Group, a company that owns 4 teams: Manchester City, New York City, Melbourne City and Yokohama F Marinos.

The deal will lead to the coffers of City Football Group 400 million dollars. 13% of the company that owns Man City goes to the Chinese consortium. "The agreement - reads a statement from Cfg - will open up enormous business opportunities in China and on international markets".

In addition to the sheikh's petrodollars, from today the Citizens will also have at their disposal the capital put in place by this group which already owns the exclusive TV rights in China for the Chinese Super League and for the China Football Association.

It seems that a key role in the unblocking of the negotiations which has been going on for 6 months was played by the Chinese president Xi Jinpijng who went to the Manchester club headquarters a month ago.

The agreement will have to be approved by the various regulatory bodies of the nations concerned and sets the value of the international football giant at over 3,1 billion dollars.
