"Mum I took the plane": eleven year old from Manchester runs away from home and flies to Rome

An 11-year-old boy who runs away from home and then, after a handful of hours, returns safely, a story that has already been heard and happened many times. Only this time the boy in question, an eleven-year-old from Manchester, instead of going around the block, or taking a bus to the end of the line and back, made it as far as Rome.

The title of this story, without too much imagination, could be "Mom I took the plane". In fact, the boy went early in the morning to the Departures terminal at Manchester airport and, slipping into the midst of a school group of his peers, managed to board a JET 2 flight to Rome, eluding all controls.

The English police, alerted by the parents who can't find their son, have already started the first searches as the plane flies over Paris and the child begins to feel sick due to airsickness. A flight attendant rescues him, who after asking him a few suspicious questions, asks him to show him the ticket. The child's answer was simple and direct: "I don't have a ticket, I just want to see Rome".

At that point the commander informs the Fiumicino border police who, thanks to the intervention of the manager Antonio del Greco, trace the minor, upon landing, and embark him on the first available flight to Manchester, where the child, at least until the foreseeable reprimanded by his parents, he arrived safe and sound.
