Bad weather, new arctic wave starting February 6: snow especially in the Center-South

The vast cyclonic circulation positioned over Northern Europe will bring cold air of direct Arctic extraction in the next few days, which will also affect Italy for several days. Although temperatures will also drop below average, it won't be an exceptional frost waveon the contrary: cold outbreaks of this type are absolutely normal for the current period.

In the first phase, the new wave will determine bad weather conditions on several occasions essentially in the Centro-South, due to the genesis of rapidly moving vortices from the Tyrrhenian Sea towards the Ionian or Adriatic Sea, with showers and progressively decreasing snow also on the hills in the Centre, down to below 1000m as well in the South. There may also be intense and stormy phenomena especially on the lower Tyrrhenian side, with possible hailstorms, all seasoned by strong winds first from Ponente, then from Mistral or Tramontana.

On the other hand, the North is drier, even if some phenomena should affect the Alps and above all the Northeast, especially between Tuesday and Wednesday, thanks to a temporary rotation of the currents from the wetter western quadrants; the Northwest is still largely in rain shadow, sheltered by the Alpine buttress. A greater involvement of the northern regions could take place after 8-9 February, when a temporary anti-cyclonic bridge between the Atlantic, Scandinavia and Russia should push a cold vortex at high altitude towards central Europe, with progressive involvement of Italy. At this juncture it would be more likely that a minimum would form between Liguria and the high Tyrrhenian Sea with some snowfall even in the plains (evolution to be confirmed in the next updates, everything will be played on the trajectory of this cold core). The subsequent sliding of the depression towards the South could also favor snowfalls in the hills if not at times in the plains also in the Center (the possibility of snow in Rome to be monitored).

There is therefore a lot of irons in the fire for the next few days: the situation remains in fact very dynamic and subject to change even in the medium term; therefore constantly follow the updates!
