The toll from the wave of bad weather that hit the Livorno area is 7 dead and one missing, according to the firefighters of the Tuscan city. Four bodies were found in a basement, another in the Monterotondo-Montenero area. The body of a young woman missing in Livorno, 34-year-old Martina Bachini, was found in the afternoon in a private garden invaded by mud in the Antignano area, not far from Rio Ardenza. Yesterday her husband was found and saved in the creek, clinging to logs, two kilometers from their home which is located in the Collinaia district. Instead, Gianfranco Tampucci, 67, is still being sought.

“It is too early to take stock of the number of victims – said the mayor of Livorno Filippo Nogarin today – five are those ascertained, but unfortunately the number is destined to rise. We had an orange state of emergency – he added -, the red one was foreseen in Liguria, so we were not able to predict what happened ”. The mayor then spoke of the dramatic situation for the Montenero area, of landslides and landslides in the Quercianella area.

The Livorno train station unusable from 3 last night because it was flooded and the Tyrrhenian railway line interrupted between Pisa and Campiglia, in the Livorno area, with convoys diverted via Florence-Pisa. This was announced by Rfi regarding the problems created by the heavy rains that affected Livorno, Pisa and the coast. “Long-distance trains are diverted via Florence-Pisa – explains Rfi -. For regional trains, Trenitalia has activated replacement services with buses between Pisa and Campiglia, which will be carried out compatibly with road conditions. The technical teams of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana are working to restore the safety conditions for railway traffic".

"An investigation has been launched." Thus the chief prosecutor of the Republic of Livorno Ettore Squillace Greco answered the question whether an investigation had been opened into the disaster in Livorno caused by the storm: at the moment six people are dead, two are missing. Already today the prosecutor, together with the substitutes Giuseppe Rizzo and Antonella Tenerani, carried out inspections in the city.
