Bad weather, three more dead in Tuscany and meanwhile the alarm goes off for the Tiber

The bad weather emergency that hit vast areas of Tuscany yesterday is not over: the torrential rains that hit central Italy continue to claim victims. Three other people died in a car involved in the collapse of the bridge over the Albegna, in Marsiliana, in the municipality of Manciano, late yesterday evening. Rescuers would have identified the bodies but would not have been able to recover them yet.

Meanwhile the alarm goes off for the Tiber and for Rome. The "maximum peak" of the central stretch of the Tiber is expected tonight due to bad weather. This was announced by the civil protection of Rome which "is in constant contact with the regional civil protection and is following the evolution of the weather conditions and the activities connected with the emptying of the water containment basins upstream of the river". Civil protection facilities will be activated from the Capitol along the bridges "for the monitoring of moorings and floating waste"; other emergency services will be located in Prima Porta, Ponte Milvio and Idroscalo.

At the moment "the situation remains under control and there are no particular critical issues on the Tiber and Aniene sections", says the Civil Protection. Meanwhile, while yesterday evening there were 2 rescue interventions by the firefighters due to the wave of bad weather that hit northern and central Italy, in Umbria the situation seems to be improving slightly, even if attention remains high on the level of rivers. The Rescue Coordination Center active at the Prefecture continued its monitoring activity on the evolution of hydrogeological criticalities throughout the night. The level of the rivers continued to grow until the early hours of dawn, reaching, in the case of the Tiber, a maximum altitude of 7.92 m. 9.83 in Ponte Nuovo di Torgiano and XNUMX in Montemolino di Todi to then stabilize and, in the case of Ponte Nuovo, mark a first slight decrease which indicates the passage of the flood wave.
