Over two meters of snow in the Alps, but above all flooding and damage in half of Italy due to bad weather and heavy rainfall this weekend. The North was particularly affected: red alert in Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Alto Adige, where it was the Brenner railway between Bolzano and the state border blocked for security reasons. Austria cannot be reached from the Italian side because the northern lane of the A22 motorway between Vipiteno and Brennero has also been interrupted since yesterday evening. The state road 12 was also interrupted in both directions between Colle Isarco and Brennero. The railways of Val Pusteria (Valdaora – Lienz in Austria) and Val Venosta along the entire stretch between Merano and Malles were also interrupted for safety reasons. Replacement bus services have been established.

The Brennero state road is also interrupted between Fortezza and Mules, in Egna and between S.Pietro Mezzomonte and Ziggler. Traffic on the Alemagna state road between Dobbiaco and Cortina has also been suspended. The Passo Lavazé state road on the South Tyrolean side and the Val Sarentino state road are closed. Access to Val Badia blocked. All passes and numerous provincial roads are closed. The Brennero, Val Ridanna and Racines, Luson and Funes cannot be reached. The Val Sarentino in Ponticino, Maso Corto in Val Senales, the Val Martello da Ganda, as well as Solda, Trafoi, Riva di Tures, Acereto, Casere and Predoi are blocked. Other side valleys are not reachable. Blackouts due to trees that have fallen under the weight of the exceptional snowfall are reported from Val Martello and - patchily - from various other areas of South Tyrol. The line between the Belluno area and the Val Pusteria, which currently holds up thanks to an emergency system with local power stations, was interrupted.

Half of Italy, on the other hand, is on orange alert: Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, the Autonomous Province of Trento, Umbria, Abruzzo, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Calabria and Sicily. In the Modena area, the Panaro river flooded: evacuations of inhabitants are underway in the area between Gaggio and Nonantola, in the Modena area, due to the breaking of the river bank. The firefighters who sent operational sections from Tuscany and Piedmont.
