Bad weather, Liguria alarm: 2 dead in Leivi, army in Chiavari

A few weeks after the flood that devastated Genoa, this time some municipalities in the Levant are most affected, especially in the Tigullio area: two dead in Leivi, army and Civil Protection in action in Chiavari - Schools closed in Genoa again tomorrow.

Liguria still in the bad weather nightmare. A few weeks after the floods that devastated Genoa, this time some municipalities in the Levant are most affected, especially in the Tigullio area: in particular Leivi, where the firefighters found the bodies of the couple buried in the mud seventy-year-olds missing since yesterday evening and Chiavari, where the army has been mobilized and the Civil Protection is already operating.

However, the state of alert was extended until 15 pm tomorrow throughout the Liguria region: in Portofino, a portion of the provincial road in the Niasca area collapsed on the cliff. In addition to Chiavari, the supply of drinking water is interrupted in the municipalities of Lavagna, Leivi and San Colombano. The president of the Veneto Region Luca Zaia has arranged for the men and means of the civil protection of the Veneto to be sent to Chiavari, one of the Ligurian towns most affected by the wave of bad weather.

After landslides, floods, two women – one of whom is pregnant – saved in extremis, the president of Liguria Claudio Burlando appeals to the government: “We have used up our resources with 50 million. We need money right away: 150-200 million, otherwise we won't raise this region". The meetings of the regional and municipal councils have been cancelled. On Wednesday the schools will remain closed in Genoa and Chiavari.
