Maker Faire, here are the top 6 Enterprise 4.0 projects

A knee pad that emits light signals to guide the walk of people with walking impairments; a management system that makes decisions independently thanks to the use of artificial intelligence; a digital assistant who studies people's habits and transforms their way of working through the adoption of advanced technologies: these are some of the 6 projects in key Enterprise 4.0 presented by individual companies or their networks that have won the Top of the PID award of the Digital Enterprise Points created by the Chambers of Commerce to spread digitalisation.

The award was presented to the winners by Unioncamere during the conference "Enterprise 4.0: between innovation and sustainability" at the Maker Faire underway in Rome. The 6 winning projects stood out in one of the different categories in the competition: circular economy; intelligent and advanced manufacturing; social; services-trade-distribution; tourism; new business models 4.0.

In the special "medal collection" 3 prizes went to innovative projects presented by companies from the North, two prizes in the Mezzogiorno and 1 in the Centre. The winners were selected from over 200 applications sent by companies that have used at least one of the many services offered by PIDs. The South has focused on green: 10% of the projects presented by companies in the South have a strong "green" value, against 5% in the North and 4% in the Centre. While 52% of companies in the North focused above all on advanced manufacturing projects and new business models.

"Almost 3 out of 5 companies have just started the digitalization process and only 1 out of 10 has already acquired important experience". This is what emerges from digital maturity test carried out online by 14 companies through the network of digital business points. This was underlined by the general secretary of Unioncamere, Giuseppe Tripoli, who adds "the innovative projects that we have awarded today are the sign, however, that many other entrepreneurs are already ready to transform their company into a 4.0 company, also thanks to the services offered by the chamber network to which over 70 thousand production companies have turned" .

PID numbers

Over 70 entrepreneurs have used the services of the digital enterprise points: more than 47 have participated in courses and thematic (in)training events organized by the PIDs present throughout Italy; over 14 companies measured their digital maturity with the SELFI4.0 self-assessment test, available on the site; around 2.000 entrepreneurs have carried out an in-depth assessment conducted by the Digital Promoters within the network; over 10.000 companies have had access to the almost 60 million euros disbursed through vouchers from the PIDs to purchase 4.0 consultancy and training services.

The photograph taken through the SELFI4.0 test on the digital maturity of our companies tells us that: 9% are Newcomers, because they are linked to traditional management of information and processes; 49% are apprentices, i.e. use "basic" digital tools; 32% are Specialists with a large part of process digitization; 7% are Experts as they successfully apply the principles of Enterprise 4.0; only 3% are champions with good digitization of processes and use of 4.0 technologies.

In the Top of the PID "medal table": 3 prizes in the North, 2 in the South, 1 in the Center

Milan is at the top of the PID in the new business models category, Bergamo in the social category, Treviso in the distribution trade services category; Salerno in tourism with a project carried out by a network of companies. And again with Bari in the South goes the prize for the circular economy while for Central Italy Ancona ranks in the intelligent and advanced manufacturing category. All the winning companies used one or more of the PID services to support their digital development projects: digital assessment, vouchers, orientation, mentoring.
