Magneti Marelli in Kkr's sights: US fund deals with FCA

The bottom kkr, a New York-based international private equity firm, is in talks with fca for the purchase of Magneti Marelli. The Wall Street Journal writes it, specifying that the valuation of the auto components group reaches i 3,7 billion dollars, equal to 3,2 billion euros. However, it is not excluded that the final price exceeds this threshold.

The operation – underlines the American financial daily again – would be carried out through Calsonic Kansei, the Japanese subsidiary of Kkr, in turn active in the four-wheel sector and sold last year by Nissan and other shareholders for approximately 4,5 billion.

FCA's Board of Directors had given the green light to the spin off last April.

The original plan envisaged that the components company would leave the FCA perimeter to merge into one newco incorporated under Dutch law to be listed on Borsa Italiana. In this way, the group would have replicated what has already been done for FCA, Exor, Ferrari and CNH, all based in Amsterdam.

Despite the news of Kkr's interest, today at the beginning of the afternoon, FCA's share on the Stock Exchange drops more than one percentage point, to 14,20 euros.
