Made in Italy on display in Tokyo

From tomorrow until January 31, Italian fashion arrives in Tokyo (at the Westin Hotel) with the 42nd edition of Moda Italia and the 52nd edition of Shoes from Italy. 178 companies will participate in the two events and will exhibit their collections for the 2013-2014 Autumn/Winter season.

Confirming the commercial importance of the exhibitions also for the Asian and Oceanic areas, in addition to the missions of buyers from South Korea and Taiwan, operators from Vietnam, Malaysia and Australia were invited, accompanied by the Trade Analysts of the respective Offices of the ICE agency.

Clothing, which has always been one of the fundamental sectors of Italian exports, is also gaining confirmation in the Asian markets despite the Chinese competition. According to the most recent data, in fact, Italy appears to be the second country, just behind China, for the supply of "leather or leather goods" (954 million dollars), and the third for the supply of "clothing and fabric accessories” (516 million dollars) for the Japanese market.
As far as footwear is concerned, the Italian import share was 6,0%, placing our country in third place after China and Vietnam, but if only leather footwear is considered, Italy leads the ranking with 24,7% of the total for a value of 248 million dollars.
