Either the EU is reformed or the Frexit is at risk. This was said yesterday by the liberal-progressive candidate for the Elysée, Emanuel Macron, who also sent a message of congratulations to Matteo Renzi for his victory in the Pd primaries.
"I'm pro-European but we have to face the situation, listen to our people acknowledge that the malfunctioning of the EU is no longer tolerable" and, if not resolved, risks leading France to leave Europe.
"My mandate, the day after the election - added Macron - will be to reform the European project in depth and not doing so would be a betrayal that could lead Paris out of the EU".
A few days before the second round of the French presidential elections, which will be held next Sunday, the leader of En Marche remains at the top of the polls even if Marine Le Pen of the Front National is desperately trying to recover ground among the Gaullists but also in the ranks of the extreme left that does not like Macron's reformism.
