Macron: no strategic assets for foreigners

(Teleborsa) – Protectionist exit for French President Emmanuel Macron. According to the number one of the Elysée, Europe should protect strategic companies just like in France.

"The battle over the protection of strategic investments is essential", Macron declared in an interview with the weekly Le Point, hoping that "what we do in France can be done at the European level", i.e. refusing certain European companies operating in strategic sectors ( telecommunications, energy, etc.) pass under the control of foreign companies.

The statements of the French President catch the eye after Paris demanded the nationalization of the STX shipyards at the end of July, on which the Italian Fincantieri had gotten its hands.

Macron spoke of the need for Europe to exercise the tools of sovereignty that already exist "on the commercial level against dumping attacks", through a "concerted commercial policy" and through a "budget for the euro area".
