Machine tools: in 2011 Italian exports grow by 25%

BUTTER TEND TO THE CRISIS – Strong increase in exports of machine tools, in a market dominated by Japan and China. According to forecasts, in 2012 Italian production will grow by 4,9% over the previous year and exports will reach a record value of 3,66 billion, 12,3% more than in 2011.

Machine tools: in 2011 Italian exports grow by 25%

In 2011, world production of machine tools increased by 27,7%. Asia, 61,1%, Europe and 32,4% contributed to the composition of the total value.

In Italy, the strong increase in the production, which grew by 13,5%, a 4,76 billion euros, was determined by the excellent performance of exports which have reached the record value of 3,26 billion euros (25,2% more than the previous year).

The recovery of the Italian industry in the sector was reflected in the level of utilization of production capacity, whose annual average grew from 68,7% in 2010 to 79,6%.

The export/production ratio rose from 62,1% in 2010 to 68,5%. The balance of trade increased by 27,9%, settling at 2,2 billion. As far as destinations are concerned, China was the first foreign market of reference.

The export to XNUMX-XNUMX business days instead covered the 38% of the total, and returned to growth (+30,7%), settling at 1,16 billion. The leading EU market was confirmed as Germany (362 million, +40,6%), followed by France (179 million, +30,9%) and Poland (106 million, +33,4%).

The latest export survey available, relating to the period January-March 2012, sees China stably in first place in the ranking of outlet countries for Italian exports in the sector, with an increase of 30,2% compared to the same period of the previous year.

German production then grew by 35,4% to 9.700 million, after the contraction in 2010.
