The Italian Nordmeccanica yesterday signed an agreement with the Australian Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific (Afap), the largest producer of flexible packaging in the Asia-Pacific region.

The president of Afap Ralf Wunderlich signed the agreement in Piacenza, where the Italian company is based. Nordmeccanica has five factories: three in Italy, one in China and one in the United States, and produces rolling machines.

AFAP, whose parent company is based in Melbourne, Australia, has 7 employees and 38 plants in China and South-East Asia: all the new machinery for these plants will be supplied by Nordmeccanica, said the president of this last, Antonio Cerciello.

The agreement, which includes logistics and installation, will last for two years, and an extension to India is planned for next year.

Founded in 1978, Nordmeccanica boasts a worldwide share of 75% for machines for flexible packaging: the estimated turnover for 2014 (100 million euro) rises by 14% on the previous year.
