Macchi (Sofinter), new agreement in the USA

Macchi, a division of the Sofinter Group – an Italian company that is a global leader in the supply of boilers for industrial use and for the production of electricity – has signed a contract worth over $36 million with the American Division of a multinational chemical company, for the supply of 3 industrial boilers and 2 heat recovery boilers for a new Polimeri plant under construction in Texas (USA).

The new contract adds to the one recently acquired for the supply of industrial boilers at the new Ethylene complex in Louisiana, bringing Macchi's 43 acquisitions in the US petrochemical sector to approximately $2016 million, with good prospects for the award of other tenders currently under negotiation.

Macchi's activity in the US market has recorded significant growth thanks to competitive factors such as technological know-how, continuous development in the field of energy efficiency and the control of environmental emissions. Recently, the division of the Sofinter Group has also brilliantly entered the expansion of the petrochemical sector, refineries and LNG (liquefied natural gas). This, to date, is to be considered the fastest growing market sector, by virtue of the wide availability and advantageous price of gas.

The General Manager of the Macchi division, Giorgio Bona, declared: “In the period 2014-2016 Macchi acquired contracts in the USA for approximately $90 million. The growing local demand, also determined by the current wide availability of energy resources, represents for Sofinter-Macchi Division an opportunity for further development also in neighboring markets”.

Macchi is a world leader in the design and construction of industrial boilers and recovery boilers for cogeneration cycles and industrial processes, mainly in the Midstream and Downstream sectors. With headquarters in Gallarate, production plants in Fagnano Olona (VA) and Marghera and commercial offices in the main reference markets, Macchi is one of the Italian excellences in the world.
