M5S and irregular signatures: 4 also under investigation in Bologna

The case of signatures in the 5 Star Movement is expanding. After the Palermo investigation, another front opens up in Bologna, where the prosecutor has entered four grillini in the register of suspects. The suspicion is that they have illegally collected the signatures filed for the 2014 regional elections. One of them is Marco Piazza, vice president of the city council, who would have been called into question as a certifier, together with one of his collaborators and two other people .

Meanwhile, the first invitations to appear for some suspects in Palermo have started, where the investigation concerns some alleged false M5S signatures for the 2012 municipal authorities. According to rumors, a number of suspects agreed with the prosecutors on the date of the interrogation even before the invitation to appear.

Sources close to the leaders of the Movement, quoted by the Ansa agency, reveal that most of the grillini under investigation, in Palermo as in Bologna, could choose the path of self-suspension. Piazza, who will shortly speak with Beppe Grillo, has already given his willingness to suspend himself.

“On Piazza I put my hand on the fire – commented the group leader in the municipal council of the M5S Massimo Bugani – Self-suspension in these cases can be there, I will talk about it with the guarantors. On the collection of signatures, if there are errors, if some fool has taken signatures in Rome it will be demonstrated that they are true signatures and then taken to a banquet and slipped into the other forms. Whether the mistake is serious or not, we'll see, if this is the mistake it's laughable, if there's something else it's jokes made by those who were full of hatred for the exclusion from the candidacies for the regional ones. Maybe it's a trap hatched to hit me."

The mayor of Bologna Virginio Merola (Pd) instead tried to tone it down: “A climate is being poisoned and I don't want to contribute – he said – for me what counts is the pronouncement of the judiciary and not the investigations. The problem is that the M5S has always tried people without waiting for sentences. Now it's their problem. Following their theory, Piazza should be suspended”.
