Luxottica, the “generational pact” is underway: 600 hires

Luxottica yesterday signed the new company supplementary contract with the trade unions for the approximately 10.000 Italian employees of the group. The agreement, in force from 1 December this year to 1 December 2018, supplements the CCNL for the eyewear industry with measures that concern not only the economic and work organization aspects, but also the valorisation of young talent, the protection of employees close to retirement and the general improvement in the conditions of well-being of workers. The contents that most characterize the new agreement are, among others, the 'generational pact' between employees, introduced for the first time in Italy in the private sector. This has the dual objective of encouraging the entry into Luxottica of young workers and facilitating employees who, a few years after reaching their pension limits, intend to opt for a reduced work commitment.

Over the next three years and for an initial trial phase, one hundred employees three years after retirement will be able to apply for 50% part-time work with no impact on their pension treatment, offering an equal number of young people - selected exclusively according to criteria of merit – the opportunity to be hired on a permanent basis. The new contract confirms Luxottica's commitment to the permanent hiring of 600 workers, most of whom are identified among the young people who work in one of the Group's Italian offices on fixed-term contracts. The 600 new permanent hires follow the more than 2.000 already made in the last eight years.
