Luxury, Sergio Loro Piana dies: new scenarios on the sale to Lvmh

Sergio Loro Piana, managing director of the luxury house of the same name, who had been battling a serious illness for some time, passed away today in Milan at the age of 69. The premature death of the Piedmontese entrepreneur, at the helm of the family business, world leader in the processing of cashmere, vicuna and extra-fine wool, opens at this point unprecedented scenarios on the recent sale, which took place8 July 2013 and finalized in the last few weeks, of the 80% stake in the French group Lvmh.

At this point it is more than probable that in the strategies of the Quarona family, the state of health of the relative may have tipped the balance in favor of the sale of the company, which took place quite surprisingly, precisely to the luxury giant led by Bernard Arnault. Sergio Loro Piana was in fact co-managing director together with his brother Pier Luigi: together, the two entrepreneurs had already developed an "ambitious strategic plan" for product development in all areas of the world. A plan which, with the financial strength of the world's leading group, will be "even more amplified", the two brothers had pointed out.
