The richest man in the world? Mexican Carlos Slim

Real dollars speak Spanish. In the ranking of richest men in the world, the top step of the podium is no longer occupied by Bill Gates, nor by Warren Buffett, but by the Mexican Carlos Slim. According to data from the new Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the Central American tycoon surpasses his stars and stripes opponents with over $68 billion in assets.

Microsoft's father stops at 62 billion, while the legendary Warren, "the oracle of Omaha", despite his financial prophecies, has to settle for just 43 billion.

Slim, who despite his name has the corpulence of a real businessman, has built his empire in the telecommunications sector, becoming the owner, among other things, of the Mexican company America Movil. Slim and Gates' net worths have both increased by 2012% since the start of 11, according to the new index. Buffett's assets, on the other hand, grew by 2,4%.

Better than them was the Brazilian entrepreneur active in the mining sector, Eike Batista, who in the first two months of the year saw his assets grow by 32%, to 39 billion dollars. However, there are 9 Americans in the list of Scrooges. As for Europe, the richest is the owner of Ikea, Ingvar Kamprad, with a fortune estimated at 42,5 billion dollars.
