Black Monday for Juve: 10 penalty points for capital gains and defeat on the pitch. Goodbye Champions

May 22, 2023 will be remembered by Juve as a truly nefarious day: beaten by the Federcalcio for capital gains and a humiliating 4-1 defeat even in Empoli – Allegri: “We need respect for those who work” – Now anything can happen at Juventus

Black Monday for Juve: 10 penalty points for capital gains and defeat on the pitch. Goodbye Champions

Il Black Monday for Juve. The bianconeri collect first 10 penalty points by the Court of Appeal Federal for the capital gains case, then they lose 4-1 in Empoli and complicate the chances of the Champions League in an almost irreversible way, left open by the sentence. Allegri repeats the Seville disaster, just a week before the direct clash with Milan, which could have put a season back on its feet. He also signs up for the festival of missed opportunities Roma, stop on the draw from Salernitana, while Lazio, Inter and Milan they can smile: the Biancocelesti are mathematically in the Champions League, while the Milanese, despite not being able to celebrate yet, have two very insidious opponents behind them.

Capital gains ruling: Juve penalized by 10 points, Calvo announces the (new) appeal to Coni

The first blow of the evening came at dinnertime, when the Federal Court of Appeals decreed the new ruling on the capital gains case: penalty of 10 points e acquittal for seven executives “secondary”, among which Pavel Nedved stands out. "Called by the Collegio di Garanzia dello Sport to renew its assessment of the sanction to be imposed on Juventus for the so-called `capital gains case` - reads the Federcalcio website -, the Federal Court of Appeal has sanctioned the Juventus club with ten penalty points in the standings to be served in the current sports season".

Un bad blow, even if not lethal: if Juve had won in Empoli, in fact, they would have been in full swing for the Champions League, albeit with the sword of Damocles in terms of salaries (trial of first instance set for June 15) and the UEFA investigation. However, the club did not take it well, as can be seen from the words of Francesco Calvo. “The first impressions are obviously negative, we are not satisfied with this penalty – confirmed the Juventus CFO -. Will we appeal? This is clearly a possibility, but we must first read the reasons that will arrive in the next few days to understand any margins ". To make matters worse, however, the team, author of a horror test in Empoli, got involved.

Empoli – Juventus 4-1, Allegri: “All of this is dripping, we need respect for those who work”

A disaster, which not even the psychological blow of the sentence can explain and, above all, justify. Indeed, the CAF had left a not indifferent window open to enter the Champions League: 3 points to Castellani would have postponed everything until next Sunday, when Juve will receive Milan at the Stadium. But the team evidently no longer believes in it and so, after the defeat in Seville, another decidedly more surprising one has arrived against Empoli, moreover already safe and therefore much less motivated. At least on paper, because the field said that the Tuscans had a great desire to do well, as we saw after just 21', when Zanetti's team was already 2-0 up thanks to goals from Caputo (18') and Luperto (21').

Juve? Not received, except for a goal from Gatti on 0-0 which, perhaps, could have changed the course of the match. The direction, on the other hand, hasn't changed anymore, indeed at the beginning of the second half Empoli scored again with Caputo (48') and when the bianconeri shortened with Church (85'), didn't get discouraged, even scoring the fourth goal with Small (92').

“Enclosing the game or the season in an evening like this is an understatement – sighed Allegri -. We don't have to find alibis, but it's strange to find yourself 10 points down before the game starts. We started well, we could have closed the gap immediately, but this doesn't justify the mental breakdown. At this moment we must be silent, accept defeat, we scored 69 points on the field, after which we ended up 10 points down. By winning we could have played for the Champions League against Milan, that's how it went but I can't blame the boys for anything, it's not an easy situation and it won't be in the next few days either. They are not justifications but certainly thereThe situation is abnormal, now I hope it's resolved once and for all, because all this is a trickle, a lack of respect for working people. It's incredible that they decide once and for all, that's enough at this point”.

Rome - Salernitana 2-2, Mourinho: "Juve's penalty is a joke, the championship is distorted"

He thought about completing the "crazy Monday" of Serie A Rome, stop on the draw at home from Salernitana. The final 2-2, however in a comeback, almost completely extinguishes the hopes of reaching fourth place, now 4 points away: many with two games to go, even if it is good to remember that the Giallorossi will still have the chance Europa League final, which could send them to the Champions League, especially in the first tier. A different result, in light of the minus 10 given to Juve, would instead have restored verve to Mourinho's men, which is why yesterday's draw feels like a wasted opportunity. Rome made life complicated with an unfortunate first half, also the result of the large turnover of his coach, which ended up removing certainties and creating a lot of confusion. Proof of this is that in the recovery, after the entrances of Pellegrini and Matic, the Giallorossi immediately equalized the splendid goal by Candreva (12') with El Shaarawy (47').

It seemed like the beginning of a comeback, but Salernitana, reassured by the salvation obtained before even playing, took the lead again with Day (54'), forcing Roma into a desperate and less and less convinced forcing at least until Matic draw (83'), which, however, was not enough to overturn the result.

“The first half was not very intense and did not want to play, there was little concentration – admitted Mourinho -. Maybe it's because of the many substitutions, maybe it's my fault, but my situation isn't easy: there's a final to play, so many tired players, forced substitutions agreed before the game... having said that, knowing that the penalty would come of Juve, we could have had a different approach in the matches at Monza and Bologna. This ruling is a joke to me, I think the championship is distorted, but I don't want to talk about that anymore. I prefer to say that I am sorry for the professionals who work like me and who pay because managers and companies made a mistake…”.
