Sting, former star of The Police, who has been linked to Tuscany for years, has opened a new restaurant on his estate in Chianti. It is an "organic-pizzeria" where you can enjoy genuine cuisine, with local raw materials, also available in a gluten-free version for celiacs and at the same time enhancing the products of its estate: from wine to extra virgin olive oil up to honey.
The announcement, complete with photos, appeared on the profile Instagram by Sting: “Come and join the gang at Il Palagio pizzeria wine bar: here you can enjoy a fabulous pizza, taste all our wines and some Tuscan craft beers”. The environment is welcoming, with outdoor tables surrounded by greenery with strings of lights hanging between the trees, enjoying the beautiful view of the Valdarno.
With over 100 million records sold worldwide between Police and solo, Sting and the wife Trudie Styler, film producer and director, have purchased two properties: the Palagio estate and the surrounding land of the former Serristori farm. The company of the iconic singer extends over 300 hectares, employing about fifteen people. Acacia, chestnut and honeydew honey, extra virgin olive oil, field vegetables, Cinta Senese cured meats and wine awarded in various prestigious international reviews are produced, the production of which has been entrusted to Riccardo Cotarella, President of the Italian enologists, also at the top of the Union Internationale des Enologues at a global level.
In detail, Il Palagio produces approx 150 thousand bottles a year from native and international vines, according to organic principles. Among the latest labels, a white, a rosé and two reds: Baci sulla Bocca Vermentino Igt Toscana 2020, New Day Rosato Igp 2020, La Duchessa Chianti Riserva 2018 and 1530 Igt Toscana 2019. A bottle produced in recent years is called Message in a Bottle .
