Lukoil intends to sell the Isab refinery in Sicily. The Russian giant has held the Italian company since 2008, in whose capital it has progressively risen from 49% (sold by Erg) up to 100%.
The Isab refining, gasification and electricity cogeneration plant, inserted in the petrochemical pole of Priolo Gargallo (Syracuse, Italy), represents one of the largest European industrial sites and consists of three production sites interconnected by means of a system of pipelines. Furthermore, Isab was the last refinery built and started up in Italy.
Last July the Lukoil Isab Nord and Isab Sud plants in Priolo Gargallo were placed under seizure by the judiciary due to excessive levels of pollution. Lukoil later complied with the court's prescriptions.
