The gardens of Palazzo Brancaccio in Rome on Tuesday 10 June will become the setting for a sensory journey to discover one of the most distinctive and long-lived Italian white wines on the shores of Lake Garda: Lugana DOC.
Lugana Armonie Senza Tempo is not just an event dedicated to wine. It is an immersive experience that combines taste and storytelling, local culture and the art of living well. Over 40 wineries will present more than 100 labels, in a large tasting open to the public, a journey through shades of yellow, hints of citrus, herbs and almond, aromas of flint and velvety softness that convey the full identity of Garda.
Lugana – the organizers point out – is not just a wine, it is a vision. It comes from a territory balanced between Veneto and Lombardy, embraced by Lake Garda, where nature shapes a perfect microclimate: constant breezes, glacial clay and Turbiana, a native vine that faithfully interprets this environmental symphony. It is a wine that embodies freshness, minerality and structure. Its five stylistic souls, Spumante, d'Annata, Superiore, Riserva, Vendemmia Tardiva, five different ways to tell the same place, through time and the glass.
Behind every bottle, a family story, of artisan visions, of generations that innovate without ever forgetting the land. The Consorzio Tutela Lugana DOC, with its 214 members and over 28 million bottles produced, is the beating heart of this denomination born in 1967: the first DOC in Lombardy, among the first in Italy, today an ambassador in the world with exports that exceed 60%.
"Bringing Lugana to Rome, in the evocative setting of Palazzo Brancaccio, means much more than presenting a wine: it means telling the story of a territory that has managed to make quality, sustainability and hospitality its founding values. 'Harmonie senza tempo' is an invitation to discover not only the beauty of Garda and the richness of our denomination, but also a way of life that focuses on the essence of time, the pleasure of meeting, the culture of well-being. Lugana is this: a bridge between places, people and stories" comments Fabio Zenato, President of the Lugana Consortium.
The Lugana DOC area is one of the most immersive wine tourism destinations in Europe, where the wine experience merges with the cultural, landscape and sensory ones. In this territory, wine is much more than a product to be tasted: it is an invitation to slow down, to get in tune with nature, to listen to the rhythm of the earth and its fruits. You can participate in tastings at sunset among the rows, walk along the paths of the Lugana On Foot project, the first Iter Vitis certified itinerary of the Council of Europe, or explore the territory by bicycle with a wine guide who talks about the wine between one stop and another. Family harvests, picnics among the vineyards with zero-mile products, local cooking courses in the cellar and yoga lessons among the rows are just some of the activities on offer, ideal for those seeking authenticity and regeneration.
In many wineries you can sleep, dine, relax in a wine spa or stroll in the panoramic gardens, breathing in the very essence of Garda. Some companies offer olfactory itineraries in wine museums, others offer wellness treatments with wine therapy, meditation sessions or sensory experiences combined with music, where the glass accompanies every note.
This territory is also a privileged observatory of the new trends in experiential tourism: here you can experience a form of active, refined but informal hospitality, where wine tourism is combined with slow tourism, soft sports (trekking, biking, golf, canoeing), excellent gastronomy, local craftsmanship. Time expands, lengthens, is savored, is lived.
