Lufthansa aims to take over up to 78 Air Berlin aircraft, but is not interested in long-haul flights. "The top priority is to operationally stabilize the 38 (manned) aircraft that we have already leased for a few months," said Lufthansa boss Carsten Spohr. "We start from the principle that Air Berlin will exit the market and we think we can increase by 20 to 40 aircraft", he added, signaling that he is "at the limit" of what can be accepted by the Antitrust Authorities
Air Berlin's creditors and the company's supervisory board will have to give the green light.
