Lufthansa: operating profit -5,6% in 9 months

Revenues of 22,1 billion euros and operating income of 288 million for the German airline – CEO Franz: “Our competitors are struggling to reach the end of the year or break even”.

Lufthansa: operating profit -5,6% in 9 months

Balance sheet in chiaroscuro for Lufthansa's accounts in the first nine months of the year. The German airline produced between January and September a operating profit of 578 million euros, down 5,6%. THE revenues they were even to 22,1 billion euros, while the Operating income was of 288 million.

“Many of our competitors are struggling to reach the end of the year, or at least a break-even situation – commented from Frankfurt Christoph Franz, CEO of Lufthansa -. We, on the other hand, can record a profit of three-digit millions”.

Again with regard to the first nine months of 2011, the group's turnover was 22,1 billion euros, 9,6% more than in the same period last year. Traffic turnover, on the other hand, grew by 11,9%, reaching 18,4 billion euros. The group's revenues, overall, recorded an increase of 7,1%, to 23,9 billion euros.
