The Energy Authority has established a new extension for domestic customers who are in default in paying their electricity, gas and water bills. Managers will not be able to implement secondments

Electricity, gas, water: new extension for defaulting customers

Another extension. The Arera (Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and the Environment) has extended to May 17, the block on the disconnections of defaulting users of water, electricity, gas. The May 3 deadline is extended by two weeks, but then in the end we will have to pay. As previously communicated, debts for supplies can be paid in installments. The Arera has further specified that the freeze on supplies only concerns domestic customers and not commercial and industrial ones. Sectors which, it must be said, suffer from the reopening or otherwise of activities in the overlapping of national and regional post-Covid-19 measures.

The decision was taken "in line with the renewed government measures to contain the epidemic and following the first results of the monitoring of the potential financial impacts of the measures introduced on the various sectors". The Authority, chaired by Stefano Besseghini, continues to ensure the protection of customers and domestic users, in a proportionate manner. The postponement seeks to guarantee the financial sustainability of the interventions for the entire energy and environmental supply chain. Service companies become de facto part of an economic recovery after a crisis that has had very heavy effects on families. Will mid May be ok?

The provisions concern all domestic electricity and gas customers with annual consumption of up to 200.000 smXNUMX/year (standard cubic meter per year). No consumption limits for water service users. After May 17, companies will be able to activate formal notice procedures. Given the general situation in the country, it will not be easy to collect the bills. However, as we said, payment in installments is envisaged starting from the notice periods to defaulters established by the rules of the specific sectors of electricity, gas, water, with the exclusion of default interest.
