The second phase of the 'Portale Offers' is underway, the public and independent site of the Energy Authority (ARERA), managed by Acquirente Unico, which since last July has allowed families and small businesses to compare and choose in a simple and clear the offers of electricity and gas. The initiative is the second step in the direction of the liberalization of the electricity market which should have started on 1 July 2019 and which the Milleproroghe, currently undergoing final approval in Parliament, has postponed again to 1 July 2020.
Despite the one-year postponement, the market has already been on the move for some time and offers are raining down on consumers who are not always well informed. For this reason, the sector Authority is going ahead with the awareness and transparency initiative, aimed at helping families and small businesses to make more informed choices.
After having entered the Placet offers (the easily comparable standard contracts) on the portal, there are now also the offers from the free market that had already been voluntarily entered in the 'Find Offers', the Authority's previous comparison tool, active since 2009 The old comparison site is then closed and will no longer be available for consultation. With the last stage of development, scheduled for the end of the year, the other existing offers on the free market will be progressively introduced.
Citizens and businesses can therefore compare over 2000 electricity and gas offers, choosing between offers at fixed and variable market prices. Finally, as defined, in this second phase the customized annual expense for the greater electricity protection and gas protection will also be visible.
