Between the second half of 2011 and the second half of 2012, Italian families saw their electricity bill grow by 11,2%, one of the largest increases recorded in the EU, and by 10,6% for gas. In the EU, electricity prices for families increased by 6,6% and gas prices by 10,3%. Eurostat communicates it.

In the EU, electricity prices for households had already increased between 2010 and 2011 by 6,3%, and gas prices by 12,6%. The households that saw their electricity bills grow the most in 2012 are those of Cyprus (+21%), Greece (+15%), Italy (+11%), Ireland and Portugal (+10), Bulgaria, Spain and Poland (+9%). In Germany, on the other hand, prices increased by 5,7%, in Great Britain by 3,9% and in France by just 2%. Declines in Sweden (-5%), Hungary (-2%) and Finland (-1%). The highest prices, however, were recorded in Denmark (29,7 euros per 100 kWh), Cyprus (29,1), Germany (26,8) and Italy (23) against an average EU price of 19,7. 32,9, but if expressed in terms of purchasing power, the heaviest electricity bills were those paid by the citizens of Cyprus (25,9), Germany and Poland (25,7), Portugal (25,5) and Hungary (22,4 ,XNUMX). German families instead paid only 1,2% more, French ones 5,6% more and British ones just 1,8%. Data are not available for Spain, Greece, Cyprus. The highest average prices are instead those paid by the citizens of Sweden (12,7 euros per 100 kWh), Denmark (10,8) and Greece (10,2), compared to an EU average price of 7,2 euros. In Italy the average price remains above the EU average, at 9,5 euros per 100kWh (9,5 in terms of purchasing power), while in Germany it is 6,5 (6,3 in terms of purchasing power ), in France 6,8 (6,1) and in Great Britain 5,8 (5,3). However, the most expensive bills for families' pockets remain those of Bulgaria (12,3), Greece (11,3), Portugal (10,6), Hungary (10,4), Spain and Lithuania (10).
