Poste Italiane is ready to make its industry debut light e gas with a new one offering: fixed prices and blocked for two years and a constant installment for 12 months. This time there is the official date. Starting from mid-February 2023, Poste Energia will launch its rate to save on electricity and gas bills.
Expected since last November, due to the strong volatility of gas prices, the launch of this offer has been postponed until today, when gas prices on the Amsterdam TTF appear to have been declining and stable for several weeks, around 60 euros per kilowatt hour (even if it doesn't make up for last year's levels). But let's see how the offer of Poste Italiane works and how much we can save on bills of light and gas.
Electricity and gas: how Poste Italiane's offer works
Poste Italiane's offer allows you to keep i prices blocked, paying a fixed rate for 12 months regardless of consumption. At the end of the 12 months, the installment is established on the basis of the average consumption of the previous year:
- if consumption has been higher than the previous ones, it is possible to proceed with the upward remodulation of the installment taking into account the additional differential;
- if, on the other hand, consumption is lower, the installment is reduced.
But a third way opens up for Italian families: it is possible to reset the differential every month by paying one fixed price installment which accounts for actual consumption and therefore can be of variable amount.
The goal: to stimulate the reduction of consumption
The Poste mechanism was born from the desire to stimulate the reduction of consumption by families, in line with what the European Commission has asked of the Member States and with what has also been anticipated by the Minister for the Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti. As of April 1, 2023, new ones are arriving discounts for the "more virtuous" families, i.e. that will have consumed less energy. The calculation of consumption will therefore take into account two factors: the costs incurred in the period of price increases (between 2019-2021) for a share equal to 70-80% of consumption and the current market price for the remaining share .
The competitive offer from the group led by Matteo Del Fante somewhat catches utilities off guard, as they have already incurred losses and may have less leeway in competing on offers.
How to activate the Poste Italiane offer on electricity and gas bills?
Poste Italiane's new offer on electricity and gas bills at fixed prices for two years can be activated directly at branches of the Group, provided that competent personnel are present in the "Poste Energia" department.
