Lottomatica, I quarter earnings +30%

Ebitda reached 300 million euros, up 7% compared to the first quarter of last year, thanks to the increase in product sales in Canada and higher income from the Italian activities.

Lottomatica, I quarter earnings +30%

Lottomatica ends the first quarter with earnings up 30%, at 75 million euros. Operating income increased by 22 million to 192 million. Earnings per share rose from €0,33 to €0,43. THE revenues consolidated accounts of the leading Italian gaming group recorded an increase of 2,2%, settling at 798 million, against 780 million in the first quarter of 2012. TheEbitda it reached 300 million euros, up 7% compared to the first quarter of last year, thanks to the increase in sales of products in Canada and higher income from the Italian operations.

"We continued to achieve good results also in the first quarter of the year - commented Marco Sala, CEO of Lottomatica Group -, during which significant progress was made towards the implementation of our new organizational model, thanks to which we will become a multinational customer-oriented, able to respond even more effectively and more efficiently to market evolution. The managers of the various areas have already shared the new roles within the organization and, today, the shareholders' meeting approved the change of company name to Gtech starting next June 3rd. In the years to come we will operate under the Gtech name, thanks to the worldwide positioning achieved by this brand, and the new stock ticker on the stock exchange will be Gtk”.

- investments in the quarter they were in line with 2012 (53 million). As at 31 March 2013, consolidated shareholders' equity amounted to 2,82 billion and the net financial position was equal to 2,64 billion, against 2,55 billion as at 31 December 2012, mainly due to the fluctuation of working capital. Lottomatica also recalls that "as already communicated, the reduction of debt is expected in the second half of 2013 and it is expected that the objectives set will be achieved by the end of the year".

Today in Piazza Affari, the Lottomatica stock closed up by about half a percentage point.
