It starts again in the Italian municipalities the fight against plastic. The state contributions - from 15 to 30 thousand euros per municipality - are ready, in line with the various expenditure items of the green transition. Monday 31 January the door of the Plastic Mangia Experimental Program of the Ministry of Ecological Transition with a endowment of 5 million euros. Municipalities will be able to apply for the purchase of eco-compactors for the separate collection of PET beverage bottles capable of selectively recognizing this type of bottle and reducing its volume. There waste separation will encourage recycling with a view to the circular economy that many Municipalities are committed to doing, by contrasting bad habits of abandonment of the containers.
The program finances the purchase of one eco-compactor for every 100 inhabitants. Each Mayor can receive a contribution of 15 euros for medium-capacity machinery or 30 euros for high-capacity eco-compactors.
The questions
In addition to 2022, Minister Roberto Cingolani has already provided additional resources for 2023 and 2024. Questions on the IT platform Invitalia PA Digital must be submitted by 31 March 2022. Requests will be evaluated on the basis of the chronological order of presentation, considering, however, the funds available for the year 2022. The methods and criteria for the attribution of the plastic subsidy are indicated in the decree of 2 September 2021. For the presentation of the application, the Mild informs, it is first necessary to be in possession of a SPID identity and the CUP code.
The Europe
Meanwhile, from Europe comes thethe “Plastic Busters” project for marine litter monitoring. The project worth 1.109.976,27 million euros also affects waste assessment and mitigation measures. The sea, with fraudulent introductions and illegal discharges of plastic materials, is part of the Mediterranean water protection strategy. For the organization, 4 pilot campaigns and the creation of a network of coastal cities for a waste-free Mediterranean are envisaged.
The project involves Greece, Italy, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Spain, Tunisia. The University of Siena is entrusted with the coordination of the entire operation within the ENI CBC Med program and with the support of SDSN MED (Sustainable Development Solutions Network Mediterranean). The economic resources are probably not enough to control the whole Mediterranean area, but they will certainly be useful for linking up with the other projects in progress managed by single States and Associations.
