London: the dead could be 100

The London police hope that the victims of the fire at Grenfell Tower are less than 100: to say it is the commander of the operations, Stuart Candy, who did not want to give indications on the estimates made by the authorities on the dead but hope the number is not “three digits”.

So far the number of confirmed victims in the fire at Grenfell Tower, the 24-storey residential skyscraper in North Kensington, is 17. Authorities do not expect to find other people alive inside the tower. 'It will take weeks to check the whole building,' says the fire chief, adding that the number of victims is not yet known. The English press denounces: 'The tragedy was avoidable'. The queen expresses her condolences with a message released by Buckingham Palace: 'I pray for the families of the victims'.

British Prime Minister Theresa May and Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn visit the affected area. And a 23-year-old Syrian refugee is the first victim identified in the tragedy, as reported by Sky News. The young man was studying civil engineering at the University of West London. His dream was to one day return to Syria to rebuild it after the civil war.

Among the many missing are two young Italian boyfriends, Gloria Trevisan and Marco Gottardi, both from the Veneto: 27 and 28 years old, architects, in the British capital since last March, residing in an apartment on the 23rd and penultimate floor of the skyscraper. There is no hope of finding them alive.
